Mutual by Design: A Better Model of Christian Marriage
Marriage. It's been around for millennia, so what more can be said that hasn't already been said? Many books on Christian marriage have been written, but most assume that the Bible puts men in a leadership role, while women are to be submissive. But there's a better way. Not only is it healthier for families, but it's more faithful to the Bible. The Bible casts a vision of marriage where men and women co-lead and co-serve as equal partners. This book explores that vision. This book is for those considering marriage, those already engaged, newlyweds, and any couple seeking to improve their relationship. Written for both individual couples or groups, chapters include discussion questions, exercises, and suggestions for further reading

What the Bible Actually Teaches on Women
Kevin Giles has been writing on women in the Bible for over forty years. In this book, What the Bible Actually Teaches on Women, he gives the most comprehensive account to date of the competing conclusions to this question and the issues surrounding it. To understand the bitter and divisive debate among evangelicals over the status and ministry of women, it needs to be understood that those who since 1990 have called themselves “complementarians” argue that in creation before the fall God set the man over the woman. Thus, the leadership of the man and the subordination of the woman in the home, the church, and wherever possible in the world (the whole creation) is the God-given ideal that is pleasing to God. It is this “theology” that Kevin Giles deconstructs and shows to be without a biblical foundation. Giles shows that he is fully conversant with the complementarian position and yet is unpersuaded by it. He sees it as an appeal to the Bible to preserve male privilege, similar to the appeals to the Bible to validate slavery and Apartheid; appeals to the Bible made by some of the best Reformed and evangelical biblical scholars, and now seen to be special pleading. Carefully studying the limited number of texts on which complementarians predicate their theology of the sexes, Giles finds not one of them actually teaches what complementarians claim. Furthermore, complementarians too often ignore the texts that are very difficult for them. In this book the ordination of women gets only passing mention. The constant focus is on whether or not the Bible subordinates women to men as an abiding theological principle.

Ten Lies the Church Tells Women: How the Bible Has Been Misused to Keep Women in Spiritual Bondage

Ten Lies Men Believe: The Truth about Women, Power, Sex, and God—and Why It Matters
10 Lies Men Believe is a compassionate but confrontational look at the reasons why so many Christian men today are in serious crisis. The author, who has spent eight years confronting the abuse of women in more than twenty countries, believes men are failing in marriage, fatherhood, friendships, and careers because of ten wrong mind-sets inherited from culture. With gut-level honesty, the author offers practical answers for men who struggle with a variety of issues, including addiction, abusive tendencies, pornography, controlling behavior, and emotional problems rooted in a lack of proper fathering. The book is also an excellent resource for women who are suffering because of mistreatment by the men in their lives.

Where are my Susanna's
* Susanna Annesley Wesley (1669-1742) * Phoebe Worrall Palmer (1807-1874) * Aimee Semple McPherson (1890-1944) *They overcame tragic personal loss and unfriendly circumstances. Susanna, alone and impoverished with many mouths to feed, emerged victorious as a mother and minister in a church world hostile to women. Phoebe, devastated by the deaths of her two babies, repented of idolatry and became the leader of the 19th C. Holiness Revival. Aimee, at 19, could have been destroyed by the death of her missionary husband in China. She could have become forever bitter when she and her newborn returned home only to be rejected as failures by the Christians who had piously cheered them on when they had left for the mission field. * Susanna—God’s Woman in the 18th C. * Phoebe—God’s Woman in the 19th C. * Aimee—God’s Woman int the 20th C. *Today, God is asking: Where Are My Susanas? Where Are My Phoebes? Where Are My Aimees? Will you be God’s Woman in your generation?

Who's the Boss?: A Liberating Look at Marriage in Ephesians 5:21-33
In this revolutionary new book on marriage, Dr. Eddie Hyatt examines Paul's statement on marriage in Ephesians 5:21-33 and shows that it is not about who has authority in the marriage relationship. By examining the cultural background of the letter and how Paul has structured his arugment, Hyatt demonstrates that he is, instead, issuing a call for mutual intimacy, commitment and respect in the marriage relationship. He also shows how this is in line with Paul's other teaching on marriage in I Corinthians 7 and with the model of marriage in Creation.

In the Spirit We're Equal: The Spirit, The Bible, and Women - A Revival Perspective
The church's traditional teaching about women is rooted in the pagan philosophy presuppositions that women are evil, inferior, unequal and unclean and therefore, requires that women be submissive, subservient, subordinate, and secondary. The Bible, on the other hand, teaches that women are equal with men in terms of substance & value, privilege & responsibility, function & authority in all areas of life & leadership, ministry & marriage. This is born out in the teachings of Jesus, the Creation narrative, Paul, and all the NT Epistles, as well as through the activity of the Holy Spirit in church history.

Daughters of the Church
Rich in historical events and colorfully written, this fascinating account of women in the church spans nearly two thousand years of church history. It tells of events and aspirations, determination and disappointment, patience and achievement that mark the history of daughters of the church from the time of Jesus to the present. The authors have endeavored to present an objective story. The very fact that readers may find themselves surprised now and again by the prominent role of women in certain events and movements proves an inequality that historical narrative has often been guilty of. This is a book about women. It is a setting straight off the record -- a restoring of balance to history that has repeatedly played down the significance of the contributions of women to the theology, the witness, the movements, and the growth of the church. An exegetical study of relevant Scripture passages offers stimulating thought for discussion and for serious reevaluation of historical givens. This volume is enriched by pictures, appendixes, bibliography, and indexes. Like many of the women whose stories it tells, this book has a subdued strength that should not be underestimated.

The Truth Sets Women Free: 25 Tough Questions About Women and the Church
Go ahead...ask the tough questions! Although women in the United States have civil freedoms, equal rights in the workplace, and the full protection of law, many church leaders continue to quench the fire that burns in our sisters. We deny them equal rights to participate in the life of the church, and we slam the door on opportunities for leadership. In Women and the Church Grady takes these attitudes to task, providing answers from God’s Word that will set women free. This is not a "safe" Christian book that tells women to sit quietly and obediently in the back of the church. For far too long the church has prevented women from answering God's call on their lives. It's time for a change! "I will not be satisfied until the church repents for its gender prejudice and then fully releases women to obey the call of God on their lives.” ―J. Lee Grady

The Book of Eden, Genesis 2-3: God Didn't Curse Eve (or Adam) or Limit Woman in Any Way (The Eden Book Series)
God did not curse Eve or limit woman in any way. Sadly, modern translations of Genesis 3:16 make it look like God did both. God didn't curse Adam either, but God did speak to him in a way exactly parallel to the other rebel in the Garden of Eden, the serpent-tempter. And two curses were imposed by God because of them. People have made up many myths and stories about what supposedly happened in Eden. They make it seem like God cursed the woman and that she somehow deserved it. She didn’t. They make it seem like God instituted the man’s bad behavior toward his wife. God didn’t. The Bible tells us what really happened. And this book is all about what God really said especially in Genesis 3:16. When these chapters in Genesis are rightly understood, and we gain a true view of what God really said to the woman in Genesis 3:16, many New Testament passages can be reinvestigated. They too can be cleared away of the bias we find popping up in translations of, and commentary on, several key passages in the New Testament that look back to Genesis 2 and 3. This book is based on the episodes of Season One of The Eden Podcast (TheEdenPodcast.com).

Women, Authority & the Bible
The twenty-six evangelical leaders represented here, all participants in the Evangelical Colloquium on Women and the Bible, ask the hard questions about women's roles. Not all of them agree on everything. But they do agree that we must begin with the question, "What does the Bible teach?" They also agree that too often poor exegesis has been used to advocate positions on either side. Here support for women's ministry allies itself with scholarly rigor in the effort to break new ground. Essential reading for all concerned about women in the church.

Beyond Sex Roles: What the Bible Says about a Woman's Place in Church and Family
This first rate biblical and theological study offers an accessible examination of the key texts of Scripture pertinent to understanding female roles, affirming full equality of the sexes in family and church. The third edition has been revised throughout. Gilbert Bilezikian avoids using scholarly jargon and complex argumentation in the main text of the book to encourage readers to interact with the biblical research. The aim is for non-specialized readers to be able to follow his discussion step by step, evaluate arguments, consider alternative views, and arrive at independent conclusions. The study guide format of the book is designed for either individual investigation or group work. Pastors, church leaders, students, and those interested in issues relating to gender and church life will value this classic work on the egalitarian viewpoint.

God’s Word to Women: One Hundred Bible Studies on Woman’s Place in the Divine Economy
Bushnell was a scholar of both Hebrew and Greek, and when God called her to a missionary preacher, she told God that if He would prove to her that St. Paul was not against women peaching, she would obey. The revelations of divine truth revealed in this book are the result of God anointing her "Language Scholarship Potential" and using it "to the praise of the glory of his grace" (Eph. 1:6). - Book includes a fold-out page designed by Katherine Busnell entitled Textus Receptus showing evidence in the different Bible dialects such as the Greek, Hebrew, Latin and more.

The Equality Workbook: Freedom in Christ from the Oppression of Patriarchy
Influenced by the patriarchy of Roman culture and ancient Greek philosophy, church leaders in the 3rd and 4th centuries began to translate and interpret the Bible with a systematic bias against women. This bias was carried over into the Protestant Reformation, and it continues to influence how the Bible is read and understood today. This workbook was written to help readers identify and remove patriarchal bias from Bible translation and commentary. As this bias is removed, it will become clear that far from being the will of God, patriarchy is a human tradition rooted in prejudice. This workbook also focuses on helping women to recover from the harmful effects of patriarchy.
